Camelback Mountain is one of the most popular hiking destinations in the Phoenix area. The mountain gets its name from its distinctive shape, which resembles the hump of a camel. Camelback Mountain is home to two summit trails: the Echo Canyon Trail and the Cholla Trail. Both trails are strenuous and require a significant amount of climbing, but they offer stunning views of the city below. The Echo Canyon Trail is the shorter of the two trails, but it is also the steeper, with an elevation gain of 1,200 feet. The Cholla Trail is longer and more gradual, with an elevation gain of 1,000 feet.
