What it's about
Chiricahua National Monument, located in southeastern Arizona, is renowned for its stunning rock formations known as “standing up rocks.” These unique formations were created by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago, resulting in a landscape filled with pinnacles, spires, and balanced rocks. Visitors can explore the park through its extensive network of hiking trails, which provide access to breathtaking vistas and diverse ecosystems. The park is also rich in cultural history, having been home to the Chiricahua Apache and later serving as a ranching area. Additionally, Chiricahua is designated as an International Dark Sky Park, making it a prime location for stargazing.
