Chloride is a former mining town located in northwestern Arizona. Founded in 1864, the town was named after the silver chloride deposits that were found in the area. By the early 1900s, Chloride was one of the largest producers of silver and lead in Arizona. However, the town began to decline after World War I, as mining operations ceased and residents began to move away. Today, Chloride is a ghost town with a population of only about 20 people. However, the town still retains its old-west charm, with many of its original buildings still standing. Visitors can tour the abandoned mines, visit the cemetery, and learn about the history of this once-thriving town.
