What it's about
Hualapai Hilltop is where your adventure to Havasu Falls begins. Nestled at the end of Indian Road 18, this remote trailhead is the starting point for the 10-mile hike to Supai Village and beyond. Accessible only by private vehicle, the hilltop lies approximately 260 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and 220 miles from Las Vegas McCarran International Airport. With no public transportation available, a rental car or private vehicle is essential for reaching this isolated location. As you step out at the hilltop, you’ll find yourself perched at 5,200 feet, gazing into the expanse of Havasu Canyon—your journey awaits.
Facilities at Hualapai Hilltop are minimal, with only a basic restroom available. There are no water sources, food services, or cellular coverage, so preparation is key. The parking area accommodates vehicles for multi-day stays, but it fills quickly during peak seasons. Overflow parking is available along the access road. For those looking to stay nearby, options include the Grand Canyon Caverns Inn, 60 miles away, or the Hualapai Lodge in Peach Springs, 65 miles from the trailhead. While these lodgings require an early morning drive, a restful night beforehand is invaluable as you embark on the steep descent into the canyon and the breathtaking landscapes that lie ahead.
