Kapena Falls

Kapena Falls, located just off the Pali Highway in Honolulu, offers a quick and scenic escape into nature. The short, 0.5-mile trail is suitable for all ages and skill levels, making it an easy hike for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of O‘ahu’s natural surroundings. The trail leads through a lush forested area, providing a peaceful environment just minutes from downtown Honolulu.

At the end of the trail, hikers are rewarded with the sight of Kapena Falls, a small but picturesque waterfall cascading into a clear pool. The waterfall is perfect for a refreshing dip or simply relaxing by the water. While some visitors enjoy cliff jumping, it’s important to check the water depth and conditions before taking the leap.

Parking is available at the Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary, but spaces are limited, so it’s best to arrive early. There are no restrooms along the trail, so be sure to plan accordingly. The area also features ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs on a rock wall across from the stream, adding a cultural touch to your visit.
