Kokee State Park is located on Kauai's West Side, north of Waimea Canyon. Kokee State Park, which spans 4,345 acres on a plateau between 3,200 and 4,200 feet above sea level, is a great place to see native plants and colorful endemic Hawaiian forest birds like the apapane, iwi, and moa. It is also covered with forest, wild flowers, and hiking routes. The best hiking routes in the state may be found within the park's 45 kilometers of trails. While some routes meander through wet forests with expansive vistas of valleys stretching up to the North Shore, some trails lead to views of Waimea Canyon.
