One of Kauai's most stunning beaches, Lumahai Beach, is highly acclaimed. There is enough for everyone on the broad, white sand beach, which is about a mile long and up to 300 feet wide. Numerous trees offer both shade and a lovely backdrop of greenery.
Although Lumahai is the subject of several postcards and paintings, it is also regarded on the island as one of the beaches with the worst drowning risk and is not advised for swimming. Visitors to Lumahai Beach should use extra caution. A strong undertow is produced when the beach suddenly descends into the sea, forcing waves to crash close to the coast. The picturesque overlook on the main road above the beach offers fantastic Lumahai Bay photo ops.
