Located on the southern shore of Kauai, Makauwahi Cave is an easy 0.5-mile out-and-back trail that takes visitors through a unique geological formation. The trail begins at a small parking lot, and follows a short path through the jungle to the base of the cave. From there, visitors can explore the cave at their own pace, taking in the dramatic stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is also home to a variety of plant and animal life, including several endangered species. As a result, Makauwahi Cave is a popular destination for both nature lovers and history buffs alike.
