The Navajo Nation Zoological and Botanical Park is located in Window Rock, Arizona. It is the only tribally owned zoological park in the United States and is notable among zoological facilities in that it labels its exhibits in the Native American Indian language of Navajo. The zoo has 22 acres of land and houses over 200 animals, including white-tailed deer, bald eagles, mountain lions, black bears, bobcats, elk, mountain sheep, and many others.
The park also includes a botanical garden with hundreds of plant species native to the Navajo Nation. The zoo's mission is to preserve endangered animal species from the Navajo Nation and to provide education about wildlife conservation and proper care for domestic animals.
***The Park is closed on Sundays***
