Description
The Picketpost Mountain Trail is a popular hiking trail in the Superstition Mountains of Arizona. The trailhead is located just off Highway 60, about a mile east of the town of Apache Junction. From the trailhead, the trail winds its way up through a canyon to the base of Picketpost Mountain. From there, it follows the ridgeline of the mountain to its summit, providing hikers with stunning views of the surrounding desert. The entire hike is approximately 4.2 miles round-trip and can be challenging in places due to the elevation gain. However, it is well worth the effort and is a great way to see one of Arizona's most beautiful landscapes.
Tips
This is a challenging yet rewarding hike. Expect to get down on al four bouldering a bit of the trail. There are many other amazing trails located in the Superstitions if you're not looking for a challenge.
