What it's about

Reavis Falls: A towering waterfall in the Superstition Mountains, Reavis Falls stands nearly 200 feet high, making it one of Arizona’s tallest. Part of the Reavis Creek system, its secluded and pristine location makes for a breathtaking sight. However, reaching it is a challenge, involving a rugged drive and a strenuous 13-mile hike, adding to its allure for those seeking an extraordinary hiking experience.

Geologically, Reavis Falls is fascinating, fed primarily by Reavis Creek. Its flow is seasonal, dependent on rainfall and snowmelt in the Eastern Superstitions, showcasing the dynamic nature of Arizona’s water systems. The area combines harsh desert landscapes with lush mountainous regions.

The journey to Reavis Falls is demanding, requiring a 14-mile round-trip hike and suited for experienced hikers. The path includes rocky terrain, bouldering, and rock hopping, with smaller waterfalls and cascades en route. Access to the trailhead has changed; adventurers must approach from Highway 188 via Globe, as the Reavis Trailhead is no longer accessible from Apache Junction. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended due to rough road conditions, and checking road status beforehand is crucial.

Hiking to Reavis Falls demands careful planning and safety considerations. The trail’s remoteness requires hikers to be self-sufficient and prepared for emergencies.  For those who take on the journey, Reavis Falls offers a magnificent reward, blending adventure with the beauty of one of Arizona’s hidden natural wonders.
