What it's about

Redwood National Park, located along the coast of northern California, is a sanctuary of towering trees and lush forests. Spanning over 138,000 acres, the park is home to some of the tallest trees on Earth, the coastal redwoods, which can reach heights of over 350 feet. The park’s ancient groves, rich biodiversity, and serene landscapes offer visitors a peaceful retreat into nature’s grandeur.

The park holds immense ecological and cultural significance. Established in 1968, Redwood National Park, together with the adjacent state parks, protects nearly half of the remaining old-growth redwoods. The area has been inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Yurok for thousands of years, who consider the redwoods sacred. An interesting fact is that some of the trees in Redwood National Park are over 2,000 years old, providing a living link to the distant past.

Must-see attractions include the Lady Bird Johnson Grove, where visitors can walk among ancient giants, and the scenic drive along Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway, which offers breathtaking views of the redwood forest. The park’s coastline, including Gold Bluffs Beach, provides stunning ocean vistas and opportunities for beachcombing and wildlife viewing.

The best time to visit Redwood National Park is during the spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is mild and the park’s flora is in full bloom. Summer offers the most pleasant conditions for hiking and exploring, while fall brings vibrant foliage and a quieter experience with fewer visitors.
