Tuzigoot National Monument, located in central Arizona, is a preserved ruin of an ancient Native American village. The village was built by the Sinagua people over 1,000 years ago and was inhabited for centuries. Today, the site is open to visitors who can explore the remains of the village and see firsthand the ingenuity of the Sinagua people. The village was built on a hilltop, with the homes and other structures arranged in a series of terraces. This allowed the villagers to take advantage of the natural elevation to protect their homes from flooding. The stone walls of the homes were also thick enough to provide insulation against the extreme heat of the Arizona summers.
