What it's about

Waimea Valley Trail is a family-friendly hike located in Waimea Valley on Oahu’s North Shore. The trail is approximately 0.75 miles (1.2 kilometers) one way, making it suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The path is paved and relatively flat, with gentle inclines, allowing for a comfortable walk through lush botanical gardens.

Trail Highlights:

  • Botanical Gardens: As you walk, you’ll pass through diverse plant life, including native Hawaiian flora and exotic species. The valley is home to ancient Hawaiian archaeological sites, traditional Hawaiian farming practices, and cultural demonstrations, adding depth to your experience.
  • Waimea Falls: The trail culminates at the 45-foot Waimea Falls (also known as Wailele Falls), where visitors can enjoy the natural pool below. Swimming is permitted, but it’s essential to check daily conditions and lifeguard advisories before entering.
