Sycamore Falls, in Arizona’s Sycamore Canyon Wilderness, is a captivating multi-tiered waterfall cascading over sandstone cliffs. Approximately 70 to 80 feet tall, it combines cascading and small plunge-type waterfalls. Best seen in spring or after significant rain, the falls offer a mesmerizing display when the water flow peaks.

Even when dry, the falls’ 100-foot tall red rock cliffs create a stunning amphitheater of rock and water, beautiful year-round. Fed by Sycamore Creek, the canyon’s deep gorges and red rock formations, including volcanic remnants and sedimentary rocks, contribute to the area’s rich biodiversity.

To see the falls in full splendor, late April is ideal, following a rainy winter. Autumn can also offer good views post-rain, though the flow is less predictable. Summer visits are feasible, but expect lower water levels and higher temperatures.

Accessing Sycamore Falls involves a short, easy half-mile hike from a trailhead reachable by most vehicles. The trail offers a peaceful retreat into Arizona’s diverse natural landscapes, perfect for hikers, birdwatchers, and nature enthusiasts.

To reach Sycamore Falls, input ‘Sycamore Falls’ into GPS. A dirt road, suitable for most vehicles, leads to the trailhead. It’s an easy half-mile hike to the falls through Sycamore Canyon Wilderness. Ideal for hikers, birdwatchers, and nature lovers, the area highlights Arizona’s diverse landscapes. The road to trailhead ~10 miles on an easy dirt road that can be driven is most any car.
